I started intentionally carving out who I wanted to be in this industry. I began to shift away from family work and leaned into what I was most passionate about, the sessions that let people see themselves more honestly. And then, my husband and I eloped in Glacier National Park, just the two of us, on top of a mountain, wind blowing aggressively in every single direction. And that's when I knew I wanted to give other couples that same feeling of freedom, grounding, and deep presence that we had. That moment became my compass for everything that came next.
The growth since then has felt so unreal. Each year gets better than the last. I've photographed all-day adventure elopements, luxury weddings at breathtaking venues, and sessions all across the country. I've been pushed creatively, stretched personally. I've been reminded again and again that stepping outside your comfort zone is where the magic truly happens, and I'll always be grateful for it.
I picked up a camera thinking it would bring in a little extra income. I had already fallen in love with photographing landscapes on my hikes, and the outdoors had become a grounding part of my life. Just a few months into shooting portraits and weddings, something clicked. I was fully booked, fully invested, and ready to see if I could make this dream more than a "side thing." That first year, I documented everything — 72 weddings and around 150 sessions. Families, seniors, maternity, couples… if someone needed photos, I was there. I don't know if it was adrenaline or pure stubborn determination. Still, it shaped the foundation of who I am as a photographer.
